Martin F. Jue is an engineer, inventor, and entrepreneur whose journey began in the Mississippi Delta, where he was raised in the back of a family-run grocery store. From building crystal radios as a child to founding one of the largest amateur radio accessory companies in the world, Martin’s life reflects the power of persistence, creativity, and technical curiosity. A graduate of Mississippi State and Georgia Tech, he returned to Starkville to teach and build. MFJ Enterprises began with a single filter circuit and grew into a globally recognized brand. Quietly tenacious and profoundly inventive, Martin remains a quintessential figure synonymous with the words “amateur radio”, known as much for his humility as his engineering prowess.

Phyliss began working at MFJ in the 1970s as a young woman not long out of high school. Over the decades, she rose through the ranks—moving from shipping to office management to national sales. Her voice, quite literally, became one of the most recognizable in the company. As a Black woman working in a Southern manufacturing company during a time of enormous social change, her success reflects both personal grit and MFJ’s inclusive ethos. Loved by dealers, respected by coworkers, and regarded as “family” by the MFJ team, Phyliss brought heart, humor, and steadiness to every corner of the company.
These days, Phyliss says she’s ‘there every day, every way for my babies,’ enjoying her much-deserved retirement.

Richard Stubbs is MFJ’s energetic ambassador—known across the ham radio world for his charisma, humor, and deep commitment to the customer experience. Though not a ham operator himself, Richard has spent decades traveling to shows, greeting visitors, and managing relationships with dealers and enthusiasts around the globe. He was drawn into MFJ by Martin Jue and gradually became the company’s public voice, often the first handshake and the last word at events. Richard represents MFJ’s human side: approachable, passionate, and always ready with a story.

Full Transparency: The complete vision for this project - including extensive educational materials, multi-platform distribution, and comprehensive accessibility features - would cost closer to $50,000 total. But asking for that much upfront seemed unrealistic.
Instead, we're starting with what we need to get a professional film completed and in people's hands. $15,000 gets us to a finished documentary that honors Martin's story. Everything beyond that is about reaching more people and creating lasting impact.
